When you step into the life of following Jesus, you are starting on an amazing journey. You will find incredible healing and growth in your life if you look forward to see the possibilitesin front of you. Right now, you have the opportunity to see life from a new perspective. You have a chance to change the road you travel.
So how do you do that and what lies before you? As you walk on this new journey and allow Jesus to rebuild your life and heart, it is really important that you get to know Him just as much as He knows you. Here are some tips to help you on your way:
- Find a great church. Church isn’t what it used to be. You can find vibrant churches that have cool music and down to earth people - filled with young people just like you who are discovering truth that is changing their lives. Find a church near you that makes you feel at home and has friendly, positive people and a faith filled message.
- Hang out with other Christians – they will help you grow. And as you grow, reach out to the friends around you who haven’t yet experienced the same peace and freedom you now have as your free gift.
- Get an easy to read Bible. Right through the bible, you can find out what God says about life and how to live it successfully. Often when you are starting out, it is hard to figure out what the bible means for you personally. So grab something written with easy to read language to start with – like the Message Bible. And ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what you are reading.
- Find a mentor – someone who is older than you. Find someone who gets you - who you can respect. Ask them questions and learn from what they have discovered.
- Habitual behaviours and patterns are really hard to break. The best thing you can do for yourself is write down what you want for your life. Make it clear to yourself – and share it with your mentor – so that you have a direct path to tread. You need to be able to picture where you want to go to, so you can move forward.
- If you are stuck and just can't seem to move forward, seek out a good counsellor who can give you tools and strategies to overcome your past. There is freedom in release - and you will become empowered as you step out and ask for help.
A life with Jesus is incredible - discover freedom through true love...
